Third Annual Nick Rauser Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk Saturday June 4, 2011 Bretton Ridge Park, North Olmsted
Spring is around the corner, its time to start training for the Third Annual Nick Rauser Memorial 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk. This years race will be held on Saturday, June 4th at Bretton Ridge Park in North Olmsted, same location as last year.
If you are a beginner, here is a link for some helpful hints and tips. You can be ready in no time! If you are a seasoned runner you may want to tweak your skills. We give out a lot of hardware and great prizes. If you're not up for the run, you can always do the one mile walk! Every child who participates receives an award ribbon at the finish line.
The Leader Light Foundation is proud to put this race on each year. This is not like any other race you will go to. The walk & race kick off the day. After the race, while the runners are getting their trophies, our hardworking volunteers are busy preparing for the fabulous picnic lunch which has doubled in size from the first year.
The Kids Zone will be bigger and better this year. We are having a Bouncy House and snow cones! Along with games, prizes, face painting, relay races and swimming! Don't forget your swimsuit. There is something for everyone. Stay the whole afternoon and have a blast!
Now for the food - come hungry!
Pre-race snacks include Caribou Coffee, Brueggers Bagels, Dunkin Donuts, granola bars and fruit. Plenty of ice cold water and Gatorade!
After the awards ceremony is the picnic with an abundance of food. This year, in addition to grilled hamburgers (donated by K & K Portage Meats), hot dogs, Italian sausage (freshly made by Gibbs Butcher Block), macaroni salad, and pasta salad. Macaroni Grill has again donated lasagna, meatballs, angel hair with marinara, garlic bread & salad. The food doesn't end there. Geppetto's donated pizza, Chick-Fil-A is sending over chicken sandwiches, & Chiptole has promised to at least donate chips & salsa! Did I forget to mention that there are coolers of beer in the back of the U-Haul trailer?! We are still working on this years picnic and it will be bigger than ever!
After everyone is relaxing with their lunch we will begin calling door prizes. We have prizes for all ages from the Cleveland Indians, Lake Erie Crushers, Famous Daves, Dick's Sporting Goods, Fairview Lanes, Starbucks, Gray House Pies, Sweetbriar Golf Course, Dave & Busters, Cleveland Browns and much more!
Thanks to all the generous donations and tireless volunteers. We had a fantastic turn out! Over 500 people! To quote several participants from last year "This is the best race I have ever been to!” So come and join us with your friends and family. You’ll be doing something good for yourself and your community and have a great time doing it!

Help us fill up the back of our race shirt. For a $100 donation, you will get your name on the back of our shirt, 2 race registrations, 2 T-Shirts, the picnic and all the entertainment.
Our neighborhood kids directly benefit from this race. For the past two years this is our only fundraiser and we gave out 13 scholarships to students in North Olmsted, Westlake, Rocky River, Bay Village, Brunswick, Fairview as well as sponsoring six youth baseball teams.
